My personal Busking Charts for guitar(just roughly sorted):

  • Coldplay – Yellow (‚girls love it;))
  • Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (that one too)
  • The Proclaimers – 500 Miles (typical karaoke song)
  • Jason Mraz – I’m Yours (everyone likes this song)
  • Green Day – Time of your life (everybody kows this one)
  • Bob Dylan – Knockin‘ on heavens door (and of course this one)
  • Jack Johnson – Sittin‘ Waitin‘ Wishin‘ (the verse is a bit to low, but the chorus is fun)
  • The Kinks – Lola (classic)
  • Tenacious D – Tribute (the metaller know it)
  • Oasis – Wonderwall (played to often, imho)
  • Bloodhound Gang – Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo (fun, if you can remeber and pronounce the text)
  • Coldplay – Scientist (that’s a good one)
  • Metallica – Nothing else matters(classic, try to do it perfect or don’t do it – that’s why it isn’t at the top)

Try these ones too:

  • Oasis – Stand by me
  • Staind – Outside
  • R.E.M. – Losing my religion (played to often?)
  • Nirvana – About a girl
  • Razorlight – Wire to Wire
  • R.E.M. – Final Straw
  • Leadbelly/Nirvana – Where did you sleep last night?
  • Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs Robinson(classic)
  • Scouting for girls – Heartbeat
  • Scorpions – Wind of Change
  • Phantom Planet – California (if you’ve got a high voice)
  • Blink 182 – Going to college (try the acoustic version on youtube)
  • The Offspring – Self Esteem
  • The Vines – Highly Evolved(for Australia)
  • Coldplay – Life is for living
  • The Offspring – Pretty fly (for a white guy) (hard to play on acoustic, but fun, if you’ve got a good voice)

You can only play these if you have an amp or it’s kind of a quiet place:

  • Plain White T’s – Hey there Delilah
  • Snow Patrol – Run
  • Coldplay – Fix you
  • 3 Doors Down – Here without you

To be extended…

Basically, you can try everything from Nirvana, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica, 3 Doors Down, Coldplay, Nickelback, Snow Patrol, Green Day, Blink 182, The Offspring, R.E.M., Oasis…so Bands, the people know and which have much airplay or are in the charts. You could also try songs which are used as soundtracks in popular films.

Also ask your parents for old Evergreens/Oldies.

For busking in Germany try of course Die Ärzte/Farin Urlaub, Böhse Onkelz, Otto.
